At our best, progressive Christians ask hard questions: of those in power, of God, of ourselves. In this video, Bill Moyers talks to theologians asking such questions about capitalism and democracy in the 21st century. What's the meaning of sin in contemporary society and political life? What does it mean for us to take up the cross? How does the church listen for God at the margins? It's very, very challenging, and very, very timely.

It's my strong sense that faith communities have a powerful role to play in holding Washington and Wall Street accountable for the common good. Our values have a place in the public square. Our voices are needed. And the voices in this interview seem especially relevant.
By the way, every time I watch "He's Got the Whole World", I wonder what kind economic and moral ethic this might inspire. Watch it again. Be moved, inspired, touched. What happens when we begin to act, to move, to organize around a narrative like that? (Watch through to the end - and I believe you'll see Rosa Parks up there in the gallery. Talk about what happens!)
