Shadows and Light

A couple of times a year, we carve out a day, just a day, of silence across our church's beautiful six-acre campus.  We gather for contemplation, we walk the halls in silence and we create for one another a space for grace and prayer.  Last Saturday's "Contemplative Sabbath" was especially sweet: fourteen of us, from all walks of life, committing to prayerful support and intentional communion.  We ate our meals in the deep quiet between Ordinary Time and Advent.  And we watched the bright light of morning wander across the face of the world toward evening.  Praise God for silence.  And for the Word speaking there.
