With the deepest kind of gratitude, we're all wishing Fenway (our sweet, sweet cat) light and love on her journey into the good night. She's been a remarkably astute friend and a loving companion to all of us for these 16 years. Her huge spirit was a presence of constant grace throughout the ups and downs of our lives.
When she first came to us, Fennie was a stray, sneaking a piece of cheese now and then from our church's Sunday snack spread. Before long, she was the generous host of just about everything that happened at 107 Quarry Lane. I ache. We all ache tonight. But there is a place, there is a promise, and there is a path by which we will find one another again. Someday.
Here's a poem I wrote a couple years ago, about Fennie's ministry to me.
