Sherry Conable: PRESENTE!

“SHERRY CONABLE”
Mark Levy with the Raging Grannies and Friends
Words: Mark Levy; Music: Earl Robinson (“Joe Hill”)

I dreamed of Sherry Conable, alive as you and me.
Says I to her, we thought you gone.
I never died, said she. (2X)

You kept the vigils going here in Santa Cruz so long.
We stood with you for homeless rights,
We joined for peace in song. (2X)

You stood against the military arming our police.
You stood against invasions
And always spoke for peace. (2X)

Your voice was gentle but resolved, your spirit strong and clear.
You spoke your piece for social change
At City Council here. (2X)

And standing there as big as life, smiling with her eyes,
Said Sherry, you must carry on
And rise above the lies. (2X)

I dreamed of Sherry Conable, said she without a pause,
I’ll always be with all of you
When you take up the cause. (2X)
