DO JUSTICE: "How Are the Children?"

“Israel’s system of military juvenile detention is state-sponsored child abuse designed to intimidate and terrorize Palestinian children and their families,” McCollum said in a strongly-worded statement. “It must be condemned, but it is equally outrageous that US tax dollars in the form of military aid to Israel are permitted to sustain what is clearly a gross human rights violation against children.”

What can you do? What can I do? Easy. Each one of us can write a letter or make a call to our elected representative in the House. Mine is Rep. Jimmy Panetta. I'll be urging Rep. Panetta--as a matter of conscience, as matter of ethical foreign policy, as a matter of human rights--to co-sponsor this bill. I'll be reminding him that it's not anti-Semitic to do so: that in fact, loving and supporting children is fully consistent with Jewish values, American values and the values of all the world's faith traditions.

My friends in the United Church of Christ should know, in particular, that our community has voted to speak loudly and act boldly on behalf of these mistreated children and their families.

The time is now! Join me: find your congressperson here and make the connection!
