PODCAST: "This Land"

This is a podcast about land and culture, genocide and greed, betrayal and denial. It's really our story, narrated by a young Cherokee woman whose family bears all this in a personal, political, spiritual way. In a remarkable series, this week's episode ("The Treaty") is especially poignant and brutal: a meditation on the history of these lands and the brutal treatment of the peoples who loved them long before this country was an idea, a possiblity. How was it that so-called 'democrats' justified colonization and worse? What kind of repentance is called for? Are reparations possible? Are 21st century folk (that's you and me) responsible still for the sins of our fathers? I guess all these questions require a deep listening: and it begins with stories like this one.
