As I think about my own discipleship, my life in community with Jesus and the church, I am more and more grateful for these particular allies--folks like Jewish Voice for Peace and Empower Change--who build broadbased solidarity and invite creative and courageous action. To be a disciple means finding these friends, cultivating shared purpose, learning together--and then building the kind of power that ends blockades, releases captives and invokes the commonwealth of peace and freedom.
